Keys to a Successful Outcome

  • Avoid excessive loading or extreme movements during the recovery period.

  • Wear the required brace for the necessary time to restore proper patellar alignment.

Patellar stabilizing brace
Progress ROM with goal of FAROM by 4-6 weeks

Progress Phase I exercises; incorporate total leg strengthening exercises, avoid dynamic valgus angles; can begin cardio
Weeks 4+
Patellar stabilizing brace for sports or strenuous activities

Progress muscle strength, endurance, and balance activities; begin sport specific training, if necessary.
